Shetland Fleece - OOPS imperfect

Shetland Fleece - OOPS imperfect

Sale Price:$250.00 Original Price:$370.00

Multi-colored Shetland fleece with gray Icelandic wool backing. This fleece has a long staple length with straight locks of reddish brown and pretty gray undercoat. It is super thick, soft and unique. Hand felted and cruelty-free.

Size: 2.6 Feet x 2.3 Feet (measured by fleece side - not backing material).

Why OOPS Imperfect? While all fleece will have small bits of hay embedded in it, this fleece is more heavily littered. It is mostly deep down in the undercoat and not on the surface - so you may not even notice.

Fun Fact: Thomas Jefferson owned a small flock of Shetland sheep at Monticello.

More about the breed via Livestock Conservancy:

The Shetland breed likely descends from ancient Scandinavian sheep, and it is a member of the northern short tailed sheep breed family. Historically, only a few Shetland sheep were exported, and it was not until recently that large populations were established on the British mainland and in other countries.

The Shetland breed is especially prized for its wool, which is fine, soft, and strong. Eleven colors and thirty color patterns are recognized in the Shetland breed. This diversity is a great asset both to the breed and to the fiber artisans who enjoy using its fleeces.
